Public Diplomacy: Navigating the Contemporary Information Environment (Available Starting January 5, 2026)

This course opens on January 5, 2026.

Introductory Module for the “Crafting Influence in a Complex World” Public Diplomacy Training Program

This two-hour virtual training session introduces participants to the realities of today’s global information ecosystem and the challenges it poses for public diplomacy. From misinformation and disinformation to the rise of AI-generated content, embassy and diplomatic personnel are increasingly navigating complex, fast-moving environments where credibility and influence are constantly at stake.

As the first module in Bonvalet Academy’s 12-module Crafting Influence in a Complex World Public Diplomacy Training program, this 2-hour kickoff session provides a critical foundation for the program modules, lessons, and frameworks. Participants will learn how to recognize different forms of information disorder, apply the practical ‘4R Framework’ (Recognize, Review, Respond, Reinforce) and the ‘Five Pillars of Verification’, and practice influence ecosystem mapping to better understand actors, platforms, and narratives within their host country. Real-world embassy case studies, interviews with seasoned PD practitioners, and applied exercises ensure the training is both relevant and actionable.

By the end of this session, learners will be equipped with the tools and mindset needed to interpret the contemporary information environment and prepare for deeper skill-building in storytelling, audience engagement, and campaign design throughout the rest of the training program.
